Owls - Great Horned Owlets

Two Great Horned Owlets which I've been lucky enough to regularly observe. I'll keep adding to the album as they grow, and hopefully be able to catch a photo or two of one of the adults.
After fledging the young owls are taking to some pretty high branches. Due to the distance the photos are not always the best, but in the interest of seeing their development I've kept adding updates to the album. They seem to be doing very well and the adult female is always somewhere in the area watching over them. Initially we could hear the cries of one or both as soon as we got out of the car, but as they are maturing they quieted down and we sometimes have to search awhile till we spot them. Adult size is 18 to 25" tall, and they have up to 500 pounds of pressure in their talons.

    Great Horned Owl Series #6
This is sooo cute! By the way I just shot a photo of a baby great blue heron in the nest--he's probably at least a month old but he was very cute. The photos are in one of my birds albums--look for where it says "new".

    Great Horned Owl Series #3
This is great! I have only seen an owl once in my life--in Yellowstone. I know there are owls here but they aren't that easy to find--I think I have to go up to the mountains to really get a better chance at seeing one. I love this whole album!
