Common Pondhawk

I love the neon faces of Pondhawks. The males emerge the same green as the females. Juvenile males have a beautiful blend of baby blue and soft green. Females and newly emerged males are difficult to find as they camouflage perfectly and blend in to the grasses they perch on.

Juvenile Male Common Pondhawk

The coloring on this male is changing from the juvenile form to the mature. The thorax will turn a solid light blue while the neon green on the face will remain.
