Hi Ladies,
Sorry these updates have taken so long. I recently found out that I am expecting, so the pics got a tad delayed. Moreover, once I found out about my little Poohbear-Bumblepie, I felt a range of emotions...one being that I needed to free myself of a few things...one being the lace wig. I still love me some lace wigs, but I needed a change and the wig had to go...at least temporarily.

So I started rockin my natural tresses. I am so mad that I didnt take pics of all the styles that I created. The only con about wearing my natural hair was that I found myself wanting to change styles daily which led to more manipulation than I like. I also got a lot of knots and tangles. Oh well.

I also went to the hair shop and got my hair done for the first time in I dont know how long. I wanted a press, but I'm paranoid about letting other folks do my hair, especially since it's natural and most folks have no patience in dealing with all these naps. I would have to kill somebody for ripping through my hair with a comb of brush or whatever. So, fortunately, I found a stylist who would allow me to come to her shop with my hair already prepped (shampooed, conditioned, and blowdried) so that all she had to do was press it. I am pleased with the results. We'll see how long it lasts.

Take care and God bless!!!!

OK, so I made a new hair growth concoction last week. I apply nightly and moisturize 2x a day (as always) with distilled water and glycerin. When I clarified and DC today, I decided to take one braid down for a length check because my the braid was super loose. Now I didnt use a ruler, but I swear I got AT LEAST .25 inches of growth in one week. I will keep using this concoction and take weekly pics to determine if its as effective as I think it is.

A few days before my wedding, I took my cornrows down and gave my hair a nice claryfiying, aphogee and DC treatment. I then decided (out of sheer curiosity) to blowdry and maxiglide my hair. My fiancee had never seen my hair so I thought it would be a nice suprise. The back of my hair is much longer than the top, so it looked strange. Also, my hair is EXTREMELY soft and fine. After straightening my hair, I realized that I would need to go to a professional in order to get the look I was going for. I also realized that I have a severe case of hair anorexia and need about another year before I am ready to wear my hair out. Why does it only look APL? Hmmm. Maybe I'm not BSL afterall. Sighs...

I am really pleased with the progress so far. Now that my hair has grown a lot, I tend to prefer braiding in cornrows because they are easier to take out. Things have been a bit hectic and I've taken fewer pics because I am getting married in 2 months, so I've slacked on my vitamin regimen. But I am still cowashing at least once a week and deep conditioning weekly. I spritz my hair with distilled water and glycerin twice a day and apply my oil concoction to the scalp and seal the end with castor oil. I baggy at night and throw on my lace wig during the day. I have not used heat on my hair since Jan 2006.

So I have had tremendous growth after about 14 months of healthy hair care.

My hair has never been this long. I am braiding my hair in box braids, massaging with MTG and baggying ALL the time. I wear a wig over my hair and am also co-washing at least 2-3x a week and taking too many vitamins to name. This is not a game.

January 2006

This is my not starting point as far as taking pictures. I wish I had taken pics prior to this because my hair was a HOT LIVING MESS. I had been wearing weaves forever and neglecting my hair. I would typically weave the back and wear microbraids at the top. I was soooo against moisturizing and even oiling my hair because I thought it made my braids look raggedy. Forget that my hair was dry and brittle and that my scalp was sooooo itchy, my priority was keeping my weave tight. Needless to say, after a trip to NY, my scalp was sooo dry, it was white. I took my weave/braids down and my hair began to BAIL. I mean, falling out left and right. I hadnt had a perm in probably a year and the lack of moisture caused my hair to break off at the line of demarcation. I didnt know what was happening then, but I cut off all my permed hair and began my voyage to great, healthy hair care. These pics are probably 4 months after I cut off the perm and started getting serious about my hair.
