“I used the '75 Grand Fury to ram a fleeing vehicle I had been chasing on the Willow Run By-Pass while at Ypsilanti. A suspect had been stealing items out of employees parked car at the GM Hydramatic plant. While patrolling the lot one night I observed a full sized Mercury sneaking out of the lot with it's lights off. I started chasing the Mercury at speeds in excess of 110 MPH. The suspect couldn't pull away nor could I gain much on him due to the turns and curves. The Merc had a big 390 cu. in. At one point the suspect squeezed through a police road block with me right behind him. When he turned to take a service drive, I speared him in the passenger side doors pushing him into ditch. The chase was over and the suspect was taken into custody without injury to anyone. The Mercury was full of stolen items from several cars.
The photo is an aftermath photo of the chase with the Merc. After I T-boned it, I forced it into the ditch and I slid up alongside it after knocking out all the side windows in the Merc.”
