My baby is natural...and loving it. First, out of necessity -- now, by choice!

I cut her hair on 1/31/09. She is proudly approaching 6 months, yall! I'm so proud that she finally loves her thick, luscious, coily hair.

I've been creating this month. Started crocheting again for the first time in well over a year, so I'm just getting reacquainted with my hook. Watch out though...I'm dangerous when I get on a roll!

December 26, 2008 is my 1 year anniversary of being natural. My how time flies. I can honestly say I LOVE IT! I'm so looking forward to experiencing my 2nd year of the natural me. I swear it seems like it's taking forever to get here! Anyway, in order to keep my journey somewhat organized, my photo albums will be dated by calendar month. Okay...so I couldn't wait until April to do it. My hair was RAGGEDY! I had about 4 1/2 inches of new growth and my permed ends were getting worse. I wet my hair a little to roll it up and it tangled. I put in some smoothing conditioner to do a co-wash and soften it - and it tangled! Even with the condish in it. Sooo on December 26, 2007, instead of combing through the tangled and matted hair, I picked up some scissors and reinvented myself as a natural woman.

I actually considered going natural after my sister did her Big Chop this past Summer. I stopped perming around July 1, 2007 right before I got braids for a long overdue vacation. But even then, I didn't know I was going to go natural. I was surprised at how easy it was and how much I DIDN'T miss relaxing my hair! My sister referred me to Nappturality.com and NaturalHairPhotos.com and I was amazed at how versatile natural is. No more super straight, super thin hair for me. I haven't done a chop yet, though I am in dire need of a trim. The big chop date I set for myself is April '08. We'll see if I make it that long. Sometimes I'm ready to chop NOW, sometimes I'm not. Until then, I got my stash of healthy hair supplies and will be trying to maintain both the natural and permed hair. Anyway, it will be an exciting and positive journey for me...I'll make sure of that! Thanks for visiting!
