    Hello Reniece,
I'm having a hard time deciding if I should go natural or cut my hair in a short style. My hair has been breaking off for a couple of months now and I really need to know what I can do to get it in good shape. I wanted to know if you could tell me exactly what you did in your hair growth trial, I didnt see where you posted that information. I also want to know what hair products work best for our type of hair. I started using Pantene Pro-v for colored women, and I also use doo grow products.
    Thank you,
    Destinee

Thank you Sherida. I sent you an email.

Until I saw the post about the girl moving to DC, I didn't realize that you were local. Could you email me with the name of the salon that you work for as well? Does your salon work with natural/transition hair?

    Hi Footsie,

What is your email address? It's not listed on your Fotki page.

can you tell me what products you use? Your hair is so healthy. I need to get my hair that long. You mentioned that you used hair formula 37, can I purchase that from GNC?
And does that product really work?
    **********************************************
I use Nexxus shampoos and conditioners, BB Super Gro, and Olive Oil Moisture Lotion currently. I like to try new products ever now and then to see what works and what doesn't work for my hair.

Yes, I used Hair Formula 37 and it worked pretty good during the time I was using it. However, everyone's hair doesn't respond the same the certain products. They don't sell it at GNC so you have to buy it online at HairFormula37.com.

    Hey Reniece,
I just got back from DC, I found an apartment and will be moving there July 1. Can you email me the info for the salon that you work at, and what you charge for perms/ sew in weaves/ etc. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi MsKibibi, I sent you an email.

    Hi Reniece,
Your hair pictures have definately been an inspiration. I personally tried to wear sew-in weave once, but i couldnt deal with the itchy scalp and the girl who did mine, did the sew-in same day as a perm (so that killed my hair). I'm planning on doing the Crown and Glory technique at the end of June, which will be the first time I've been braided.
I'm moving to DC July 1, and I saw in another message that you were a licensed cosmetologist in Silver Springs. Would you be willing to take me under your wing? <<Smiles bashfully>> I need a stylist and I love that you are into taking care of your own hair. I look forward to hearing from you. take care
    ***********************************
Hey, thanks for the compliments! I'd certainly be glad to help you with your hair when you get to DC. Just let me know!

Hey, I've been really busy lately...vacations, always on the go. But I'll be stopping by BHM real soon!

!!!You rock girl!! You are definetely my inspiration. Your hair is beautiful. But also the dedication you got for growing it is amazing. Congratulations.

It seems that we are in the same area and also you are a licensed cosmotologist. Are you interested in a new challenge but this time on my own hair. I will be your client and my life is on your hands ...oups my hair is on your hands. Cheers

Thanks! Yeah, I'd take the challenge :) You can send me an email to my Fotki address (Reniece20@fotki.com) and just let me know a little about your hair - length, condition, thickness, etc. Talk to you soon!

So everytime you took the weave out, you would get a trim? and how did you maintain the weave while you had it in?
    ******************************************************

Well, I trimmed about every OTHER time after I took the weave out. I maintained the weave by using detangling sprays on the weave hair and I would wrap it around in a bun in the back and then put on a satin scarf at night so that it wouldn't be all matted in the morning. Then I would oil my scalp underneath the weave. I made sure that my own hair wasn't dry because I didn't want it to break off when I took the weave out.

AAAh! That's the key!! I'm going to keep mine in a weave too. It seems as soon as I start messin with my natural hair it starts to break. Thanks for the info!! Oh yeah, one last question, Did you keep a relaxer during your grow out? I haven't been putting a relaxer on the part that's braided.
    *****************************************************
Yes, I kept my hair relaxed for the most part. But I didn't put the tracks back in immediately after a fresh relaxer though. I did that ONE time and my hair shed too much when it came time to take the tracks out.

I'm gonna agree with Weave, your hair is gorgeous! How long did it take you to grow your hair this long? Did you keep it in a protective style (like a weave) to help it grow?
    ***********************************************************

Thanks! It took me about a year and a half overall to get to this length. (Since I started out with shoulder length hair to begin with) I had been cutting alot off because I wanted to completely eliminate the thinness on the ends. So it would've been longer. And yes, I kept it in a sewn-in weave. That definitely contributed to the growth because my hair was allowed to rest w/out heat, pulling, curling, etc.
