1955 Thunderbird Bob Palmer - Clarkaiser

The Golden Bird
Each rear bumperette is comprised of the two ends of a '53 Ford front bumper (total of 2 bumpers for 2 bumperettes). The quarters have been extended 8" on top and 12" on the bottom. The lenses were custom formed with rod and filled with gold annodized perforated sheet metal. The reverse lights are from a '55 Ford. The rolled pan was formed around iron pipe!
Up front they extended the hood scoop all the way out to the front of the hood. The grill surround is reworked and filled with a gold annodized steel panel. The panel came from a welding shop where the original owner (a welder) worked. You can't really see it, but the pattern looks like rows of slots with round ends about 2 1/2" tall by 3/4" wide. The front bumper is '55 Buick and the dagmars had a raised peak on the top, and I thought that Buicks were smooth, so maybe Caddy?. The parking lights (hidden beneath the bumper) are Buick reverse lights. The hubcaps are from a Chrysler 300. The skirts are modified '51 Mercury.
