What we have here is a very customized 1949 ford. This car is currently under construction but is a ...more
fully functioning running, driving, vehicle that I can attest to as being very reliable. The motor and tranny are 93 Mustang 5.0 with the AOD. They were pulled from a car with 33,000 miles on it. It utilizes the engine wiring harness from the Mustang as well as a new painless wiring system for the rest. The car is also equipped with a Hot Rod Air air conditioning system that blows cold. This car has so many different custom touches that I will outline them beolw in detail. This car is fun and cool just the way it is as a rat rod and maybe you do nothing with but enjoy it the way it is. My plan was to make into a finished custom car but I'm not going to be able to make that happen and I need the room so it must go. This car is sectioned, chopped, nosed, decked, bagged, shaved, frenched, peaked, etc. This is a one of a kind car! On to the details:
Body: The body is sectioned like a pizza slice to 51/2 " in the rear, it is also chopped 6" in front and 7" out back. It utlizes 41 Dodge C pillars as the B pillars, comprende? It utilizes the original rear window just layed forward a bit. The car was chopped by local legend Eric Limones of Gilroy Chop Shop. The hood has been rounded and peaked, the doors have been rounded but still need some final work to be completed, (see pics) Headlights are frenched, the grill is a custom made piece starting with a 56 Chevy bumper overrider accessory, the bumpers are originals just turned upside down, the rear has been heavily worked over featuring a special made pcket for the license plate and uses a severly modified 53 Chevy over rider and light assembly. The trunk and doors all have poppers to them all though the doors are not currently hooked up. The car comes with Power windows that were installed in the car prior to the chop. You will have to have some glass cut to make them work but all of the wiring and switches are in place and hooked up.
Chasis: utilizing an original 49 Ford chasis, we added the Fatman Mustang 2 frame stub up front complete with chromoly tubular A arms and firestone Air Bags, in the rear we C Notched the frame and went with a triangulated four bar again with Firestone bags. The chasis features power disc front brakes with 11" rotors and Maverick drums in the rear. Plenty of stopping power for this car. We set the suspension up so that the car does not lay frame for safety reasons but as you can see this thing lays pretty close.
Interior: features a smoothed dash and a completely rebuily restored original speedo that has been re worked to work with the modern running gear. The steering column is an Flaming River tilt model that has been painted and pinstripped by Lucky B himself. The wheel is a restored 51 Merc but is showing some cracks, the shifter 28: Lokar with 8 Ball, the center console is a custom made piece that houses two A/C vents and the shifter boot, additionally there is a trick door that houses the bag gauges, the A/C controls and the power window switches, The front seats are early Ford Galaxie buckets and the rear seat is a sectioned t Bird seat. The fronts are fine just the way they are but the rear needs to be covered, I just use a mexican blanket. The car is equipped with four seatbelts. One thing that should be pointed out with this car is that there is a bunch of sheetmetal that has been removed from this car and therefor there is much less interior room than original. If you are 5 11" or taller this car is not going to work for you as it will be very uncomfortable to drive, additionally the back seat really only works for little ones.
Drivetrain and electrical: 93 Mustang 5.0 302 motor with the AOD transmission mated to a Maverick rear end. All modern running gear, very smooth, reliable, and powerful! New wiper motor from RB's installed, new modern fuse block, new painless wiring system, new fuel pump.
