Ferndale is a great little Northern California town with a ton of Victorian style buildings.

Lynne & I join some of the Golden Gate Goat Car Club members on a ride aboard the historic Niles Canyon Railroad. Later we had lunch at Boscoe's Bones in Sunol with the club members, then a visit to Lynne's family before heading home. Nice relaxing day.

MAC World is a tradition I enjoy each year. The last few years Lynne has joined me in my annual trek to the Mosconi Center computer show. A quick ride across the bay on a ferry, a short walk up the hill, lunch at Mel's Dinner, then a ferry ride back. All-in-all, a fun day.

Someone once said that the only two reasons families get together are weddings and funerals. Unfortunately for us, this time it was a funeral. My oldest sister, Rose, lost her husband to cancer. Don Merkel was an amazing man, he was a highly decorated Army Ranger during Viet Nam, and when he came back he served his community as a police officer and eventually a Milpitas Police Dept. SWAT Team captain. He touched many people in his life. His funeral saw 50 plus people from 7 different states. I really respected the guy, he'll be missed.
On the happier side, I did get to spend a little time with my big sister and all her girls! I never get to spend time with my nieces or her. So that was great fun. Then Lynne and I took the rental car up to Sedona and Flagstaff for a day. Just to see the sights and have a little bit of a white Xmas!

My Brother-in-law Eric & I spent the day exploring the San Francisco Presidio and surrounding area. It was cold and foggy, but we still found some great shots!

Lynne, her brother Eric, me, and even 'Goldie" take a 3 day trip to Pacific Grove! As Eric and I went to the races in Laguna Seca, Lynne and Goldie checked out Pacific Grove! A beautful ocean side village just south of Monterey.
