Its my B-day month!!! I turn the big 2-5 on the 2nd of this month.

Not much in the way of updates for now & might be taking a long break in a couple of months....

It is election month & a new beginning for America as we have made history this month.

I have several pics with some of my metal clips (hey its ficcre month for me LOL). The updos are pretty simple & I do have some instructions to these updos for those interested.

It's been 5 years already!!!!!!

I am so excited to now embark on 5+ years of my natural journey. I'm glad that I was able to document my journey on a monthly basis though tedious at certain points along the way.

My aim was a monthly documention for at least 5 years because when I started my journey I did not come across any albums that were based on a month by month progress & I was curious as to what was to be expected on monthly basis as far as growth & maintenance. So I thought to myself, why not start one?

So I embarked on my natural journey documenting my month to month progress. There were good & bad moments: starting off there were more bad than good moments, since I had to learn how to deal with not only handling my natural hair, but with what others thought about my hair & their occassional ignorant comments. Within a couple of months I got over the weird looks & comments because I figured am not telling others what to do with their hair so they had no right to tell me what to do with mine.

Over the years, I have learned a great deal about myself, my hair, & what works for me. I've also had a couple set backs (sometime in my 4th year I had to take off ~3inches on two separate ocassions, about 2 months apart due to damaged ends [heat, etc.]) but I learned my lesson & continued on. I am now at ~31inches total length (around waistlength) & have been maintaining a trim schedule, trimming every 2-3 months & sometimes in between as needed.

I enjoy protective styles & love updos so I try to keep it interesting with my twists & braids.

So far, I have acheived my goal to document my natural hair journey for at least 5 years, but am not sure whether I will be continuing a monthly documentary, but may instead have one album containing randomly taken "5 Years & Beyond" pics. Updates may be less frequent at times...who knows...we shall see.

In the meantime, hope you enjoy my pics & continued happy & healthy growing. ;)
