Sight seeing around the Peninsula

Cape Point - the southern tip of Africa.Rich in fynbos ( indiginous flora) where some 600 species can be found. Also forms the dividing line between Indian and Atlantic Oceans.

This cycle race attracts 35000 entries and follows a 110 km scenic route around the Cape Peninsula

There were 55 Pilot whales trying to beach themselves at Longbeach, Kommetjie. Despite frantic attempts by the various rescue groups, many had to be euthanased !
One of the theories for this whale action was that a recently constructed cellphone tower was interfering with the whales radar signals !Another theory was that whales behave in bizarre fashion as a portend to a natural disaster !
Whatever the reason for this behaviour, it was incredibly heart rending to see these beautiful creatures committing suicide while we supposedly superior beings could only offer token help !
