** I have found the location of Elizabeth's last resting spot in Manly cemetery. I have a map if anyone is interested ... although be warned ... it IS unmarked ... you would only find a patch of grass between two other marked graves.
** I have obtained Gregor's Military Service Records, but unfortunately, it is on A3 sized paper, so you will need to see me to get a copy.
** Mary McGregor (nee Butcher) died on 7th June, 1862 and is buried at Mount York Burial Ground (somewhere near Hartley, NSW)
** Gregor remarried in 1863, to a Annie Eckford. I have ordered this marriage certificate and am expecting it to arrive any day. Gregor and Annie had at least one child, Isabella E. McGregor born in 1865. On Gregor's death certificate, it also states 2 non surviving males of this marriage, but as yet I have been unable to locate them on NSWBDM.
** I have finally received Robert's (Gregor) death certificate ... it states where he is buried ... I am going there on Saturday and will hopefully find a marked grave to be able to take a photo. Amazingly, it is so close to where I live ... and I have driven past this particular cemetery hundreds and hundreds of times! Another note of interest on his death certificate, one of the witnesses is listed as "William Butchers" ... could this be a relative of Mary's?
** Mary McGregor's (nee Butcher) mother was Maria Staniland.
** Her father, John Butcher was listed at both the time of his marriage (1814), and the birth of Mary (1819), as a Sergeant Major in the 4th Regiment of Dragoon Guards. I have now received John's service record ... it is also on A3 size paper ... so you will need to see me to obtain a copy.
** I am researching John Butcher further. At present, it appears he may have been born on 14th March, 1783 at Haxey, Lincoln, UK.
** John and Maria Butcher (nee Staniland) would be my /our GGG Grandparents
