Billy's Good Models

These are the models that I consider to be "good" or at least acceptible. I was taught, by the club, how to spray paint in 2003 and nothing before that time I consider good enough to include here!

Billy's NASCAR Models

I've been a NASCAR fan since 1992, but I only started building NASCAR in April 2004 full-time. There are prepaints from before then, and one full-build, but these are almost all considered good by myself!

Billy's Older Models

From 1999-2003, these were either brush-painted or left bare plastic. I also consider them the "Bad Models".

Profile

Name: William Christopher Kingsley
Prefer Billy; better known as El Camino Billy, my tag on the Hobby Heaven message board.

Scale modeling interests: I will build pretty much anything, however I mostly concentrate on NASCAR through the ages, Muscle Cars, light Customs, Pickup Trucks, factory stock, show rods...wait, that's pretty much everything! I do NOT build the big wheel kits.

Born On Date: October 18th, 1984 in Carmel NY

Family: Mom- Vanessa, Brother- Rich, Dad- Rich (1946-2002)

My celebrity look-alike is: Chewbacca from Star Wars; Abe Lincoln

Personal Vehicles: Mom's 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited or Rich's 05 Chevy Cobalt. I don't drive (yet).

My first car was a: Nothing yet. Whatever it is, I plan to keep it for the rest of my life, so I'm going to get something good. Probably an Edsel.

I've been building models since: November 7th, 1999. Although only "good" models since 2003.

I Operate: The TNMCC message board. (Yes, we have one!) Also the Boxart Group, a yahoo group dedicated to the enjoyment of model car boxart. But nobody looks at it. :|

Boxers or Briefs: Wouldn't you like to know!

Favorite Automobiles: 70 Plymouth Superbird, 69 Dodge Daytona, any Edsels, 59 El Camino, 70 El Camino...any El Camino.

Other Hobbies and Interests: NASCAR in 1/64 scale is my primary hobby. Also NBA & NASCAR trading cards, Star Wars, DC Comics, 1980s and 90s GI Joe, video games and internet message boards.

Favorite Place: Lake George NY

Favorite Movies: All 6 Star Wars movies.

Favorite Current TV Shows: The Simpsons.

Favorite Old TV Shows: Roseanne, Home Improvement, What's My Line (from the 1950s and 60s, not 70s), RPM2Nite

Favorite Foods: Anything my mom makes. Specifically Grilled Cheese, Apple Pie, and Stromboli. I'm also a big fan of cereal (the highly sugared, brightly colored kind!), Long John Silver's chicken and Arbys.
We once made a 5 hour round trip for Long John Silver's Chicken when there were none in this area.

Favorite Recording Artists: Weird Al, The Beach Boys, The Grass Roots...I listen to all kinds of music. From classical to even a little tiny bit of hip-hop. Favorite though is 60s Surfer music.

Favorite Sports Teams:
NASCAR- Carl Edwards, Jerry Nadeau, Dale Jr, Ernie Irvan, Boris Said, the list goes on. I like most drivers.
New Jersey Nets, LA Clippers for the NBA. I was a fan of them before they were good! (1996 each, when I got into the NBA)
I don't "do" other sports-just Auto Racing and NBA basketball.

My Modeling Ambitions:
To build a resin kit! I keep buying them, and know what I'm supposed to do, I just need to actually do it!
To have fun and not regret anything I build. I would also like to visit the GSL in Utah and win an award-somewhere. Not that I'm a trophy hound, I just think it would be a nice feeling.
I would also like to make the cover of one of the model car magazines. I've had a letter in both Scale Auto and Model Cars Magazine, and a car pictured in the 2005 Contest Cars from Scale Auto. It was one of the greatest days of my life!
I would also like to eventually run some sort of a NASCAR modeling buisness, perhaps making decals but what I really want is to make 1/64 scale cars that the Big 3 (Racing Champions, Action, Team Caliber) won't touch.

My Modeling Regrets:
Not getting into models sooner. Yeah, I would have wrecked more then a few (I already have) but I didn't start until I was 15 in November 1999. I also didn't join the TNMCC until 2002 (I knew of the club's existence since 2000) which was a BIG mistake in waiting so long! And, I didn't start building NASCAR models until April 2004. I didn't want to brush paint them and have them look nasty, so I basically ignored that segment of the hobby. DUMB. I missed out on so much neat stuff.

Why I'm a Modeler: Because I love cars. All kinds of cars, and I always have. My family has been in the car field since, well, forever (since at LEAST the 1930s) and I guess it's in the blood. I would never had been a modeler if it wasn't for my mom, who got me into Models (And NASCAR and the NBA, too!) and has kept me interested in all these things for the past 21 years of my life. However, I would no longer be a modeler if it was not for the TNMCC. I was brush painting everything from 1999-August 2003, if painting it at all, and was pretty despondent at my overall crappy building quality. However, at the 2003 TNMCC picnic, Rick Hanmore and the guys taught me how to spray paint...and, I guess you could say, the beast was unleashed. Now, spraying a body is one of my favorite things to do in the hobby, and I've done more then 150 since August 2003. I used to have alot of "Paint Rejects" but I get less and less each month. As long as it's 52 degrees F or more, there's a very good chance I've got a car either recently sprayed, getting ready to be sprayed, or passed out from paint fumes :)

Random Ramblings:
I have been blessed to find a group of guys in the TNMCC who took a basically oblivious builder and made him into a decent model builder, but more importantly, they've been friends. They are always there for me, and I consider every single member a friend.
I've also been pretty lucky to meet alot of fine builders and people all over the world, and make some very good friends in the process. I suppose if you spend 5 years of your life spending more time on the Hobby Heaven board, Model Car List, Randy Ayers NASCAR board, BAD Scale Racing (and others) then anything, you're bound to make some friends along the way. And I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. I don't want to name any names-I know I'd forget someone who should be on a list, but I have that list in my head...there are some people who have changed my modeling, changed my life, and even changed the way I THINK. Thank you.

Thanks for reading, and I'd be happy to answer any and all qustions. I have a feeling I've forgotten something but can't place it.
