My real name is Karen,live alone but have a
boyfriend, two cats, share 30+ ducks with my neighbors, more ducklings on the way, and
other wildlife up the valley (no lions!!). I chose
the name Brook for using on the message board
coz the valley I live in is the Brook Valley, end
of the road and into native bush. Nelson is at
the top of the South Island of New Zealand and
has a dry warm climate with frosts in the winter.
Most of the early ducklings didn't survive the
weather but the new broods are doing well
(unless the mother ducks practiced with the
first broods and are now more experienced).

All my ducks are called "Duck,Duck" said in a
high squeaky voice like "Puss,Puss" except
"Duck" said in a low stern voice "One Brain,
Two Ducks" & "Henrietta", broken leg, victim
of vicious gang rape, two weeks recovery in
the safety of an old rabbit hutch
