Our Babies..."BIKES"   RSS
(Feb 02, 2002)
One of our hobbies is collecting and restoring vintage motorcycles. We are members of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America and are very active in our clubs events (Spa is the VP). Not to be confused with the Harley crowd, the vintage motorcycle folks are more interested in the bikes, their technology and their history (not some amorphous cliche' "lifestyle" thing, black t-shirts or poker runs). At this moment we have several projects in the works and always keep our eyes (and ears) open for that "special deal". Spa does beautiful work and I am quite proud of him.

Sooxzie's 1965 Harley Davidson Panhead
Sooxzie on her panhead
Sooxzie's 1971 Moto Guzzi Ambassador. This bike was restored by my husband and won the Peoples Choice award at the National Moto Guzzi meet in WV. Note: a Moto Guzzi is also known as a "goose" (a Ducati is a duck).
Spa's 1941 Indian 741B. We bought this bike over the internet out of New Zealand. It is a military model and we find it quite humorus that it was painted bright yellow (should be olive drab).
1969 Moto Guzzi Ambassodor as we acquired it. This bike is currently being restored by my husband.
The 1969 Moto Guzzi at the start of the restoration process
1973 Laverda SF1. This is an Italian sport bike not often seen in this country. This bike was also restored by Spa.
This is how Spa carried his new fairing back to the campgroud at Mid-Ohio.
Spa's 1968 HD Shovelhead on display at the Hessler Sreet Fair.
I had to dress as Lara Croft (Tombraider - long story) for our annual OEPA conference. The guns are air pistols, but are very good 9 mm replicas. To this day people are asking me if those guns were real...I leave it up to their imagination.
