Lori's little Peepers
You might remember Peepers is the Runner/Peking mix that was the only hatch from the school project this last spring. And a friend for Jill who lost Jack earler, the two that brought Katy, Lori and Tracy together.
Peepers was indeed a very loved duck and I can just hear her and all our other loved ones up there discussing us down here...I am sure there is a great, loving fowl club up there across the Rainbow bridge with all of us having at least one of our webed footed loved ones up there...KD
I am very sad and this has been really hard on me - thank you for the kind words. I don't know exactly what happened to her (for those who don't know Peepers was handicapped and couldn't walk well - she had to walk on her hocks to get around). I found her in the wading pool on Friday morning half drowned and frozen through. I don't know what happened. Kim suggested maybe one of the other ducks hurt her and broke her neck. She couldn't lift her head and her breathing was very labored. I guess it's possible that Puddles or Jill tried to mount her - although I've never seen them do that before and I didn't see them in the pool with her that morning. All three of them were very much bonded and really loved each other - I don't think they would ever hurt her on purpose. Sam was still locked in his night cage so I know he had nothing to do with it. Anyway I got her in the house and into a warm tub and she started to come around a bit but she still couldn't hold her head up - I had to hold her head in my hands in the water. I called the vet and was getting ready to take her in and she died before I left the house. I'm just glad she didn't suffer too long. And she is no longer in any pain at all - I'm sure in heaven she can walk around just fine like all the other beautiful ducks. Anyway thank you all for all your well wishes. Lori
