Wave Nouveau OUT- Natural IN!

My hair was natural before I got it and I really regret it! I thought that it would make my hair grow longer but it made my naturally thick hair seem thin and fragile. I definitely prefer my natural hair. I'm currently in the process of growing it out. It took me 5 years the first time hopefully with all the new knowledge that I have gained online in the past year I'll be able to make better decisions in the future! I haven't had a touch up since August of '06.

My hair was natural till September 2013 and I used wave nouveau, it came out very pretty for my medium length and it grows so fast and I have had only two other retouched. It has grown out more now and I want to stop. It has grown out 1. 2 now and I want to start with just my hair and no more wave nouveau. I have a pattern and it is not all curl or kink. When it was natural I could blow dry and it would be straight. I have a funny texture of hair Colton ball soft. Doing the years I have learned what would take it out and what was to strong. Nice grade but funny hair. Grows fast with the nouveau, will it break off if I went back to natural and let it grown out. Help need knowledge my mother was a stylist and she has since left me an gone to Heaven, so I need so HELP! Thank you if you can Help!!!

I stop putting perms in my hair since March 2012. May 2012 I took a chance an cht my hair all the way down into a short afro. July 2012, the young lady who does my hair was shook. She introduce me to Wave Nouveau. At first I was unsure about the product. Now I am so glad I uses Wave Nouveau. My hair feels so health now, it dont take up a lot of time in the morning. I am very happy!!!!! I had a little afro at first, but now it growning so fast and even.

I got the wave nouveau about 6 months ago and it turned out terrible. It didn't even curl my hair, it just left it semi-straight, like i didn't finish blowing it out. Its kind of straight when i wash it but it has little bumps on it which where once curls. I really want to go back natural because my hair is long and the wave is just cutting it and made it thin-I HATE IT. Im trying to grow my hair out and haven't had a retouch since I first put the wave in. Im also to scared to cut it, ill just wait for it to grow back.
Is it  possible that the wave hadn't fully settled into my hair, and i can make in natural again?

What's the total time you had the wave? Approx. how many touch-ups. I go for my first touch up next week and I am kind of scared.
I only had it a year got touch ups every 8-10 weeks. DId not like it at all long term. It thinned my hair out terrible. In my opinion the process is harsher on your hair than a relaxer. The moisturizer is great for all types of hair. Its my understanding that it is what helps to grow hair not the chemical process itself. Protien treatments did help with the breakage APOGEE I'm sure you have heard of it in our circles. I got tired of it and reallized that IF my hair did grow to my waist it would not be the quality of hair that I wanted. Who wants really long STRINGY hair? I like my hair full and thick and the best way for me has been through protective styles wearing my hair natural and just pressing it straight. I have started wearing sew in weaves. Which I love " Instant Gratification"! Let me know if I can be of any further assistance HTH

Im thinking about gettin the wave nouveau, because i been natural for so long and im tired of braids and i dont want to do dreads and the twist are gettin old (cuttin my hair is not an option). my only concern tho is that i swim alot and im not sure if the curl pattern would hold up with me having to wash it so much. what do you think.

hi, just wanted to say your information was very helpful. I have been wearing my hair natural for 3 years. It's really thick with a decent texture. I recently seen a relative of mine with the WN and liked the style. (sometimes I also get tired of not knowing different styles i could wear naturally). Therefore, I was considering the change and had actually made an appointment. My main concern was breakage and your postings have helped me to make a decision to cancel out the WN.
    Thanks again!!!!

Hi y'all I have a Wave Nouveau too. I've had it for about 5 years now but I'd tired of it and I don't want a relaxer so I'm thinking about going natural. WN does make your hair grow and the waves are very pretty, but I got tired of the wet look and you CAN NOT straighten it. It messes us the curl pattern and you'll have to cut it. Good luck to both of you in your hair endeavors!!

Girl! I have been searching for others that have used Wave Nouveau - but I guess because everyone is either natural or uses a relaxer, we fall inbetween.

I relaxed up until 2005. I went natural on my own (cut my relaxer off myself all crazy-like lol) I kept it natural until 2007 then did WN. I've had 1 WN touch up since then - so far the breakage isn't very bad, but my hair is pretty tough (considering all the crazy stuff I do to it and not taking care of it for so long), so that may be why. My hair is actually the longest it's ever been (but it could be the multivitamin I take plus taking better care of my hair in general.)

I'm happy I found your page so I can watch your progress and everything. I am thinking about going back to natural as well because with the WN I am constantly having to moisturize it.

Anyways, sorry so long, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your story.
