OUR 1958 FORWARD LOOK PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE "C H R I S T I N E" (OO)===V===(OO)

'Christine' is a horror novel by Stephen King, published in 1983. It tells the story of a vintage automobile apparently possessed by supernatural forces. Later that same year, a film adaptation, directed by John Carpenter and starring Keith Gordon, John Stockwell, Alexandra Paul, and Harry Dean Stanton, was released.

This is a factory built Belvedere and not a clone made car, tribute whatever you want to call it, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL !The Belvedere would once again returns as a top level trim for 1958. Styling was evolutionary from the sleek 1957 models. A big block 314/325/334/351 in3 V8 with dual four-barrel carburetors dubbed "Golden Commando" was optional on all models, This one has a big block 440. Convertibles were only available in the Belvedere model between 1956 and 1958.The 1958 Belvedere 2-door hardtop gained fame (some say notoriety) from the Stephen King movie Christine (1983). Christine was billed as a '58 Fury, but she lacked the Buckskin Beige paint and gold trim that was standard on all Furys that year; instead she sported Belvedere trim (without Belvedere nameplates) and was painted Toreador Red with an Iceberg White top. Plymouth collectors decried the cars that were destroyed or cut up in the making of the film ( Some 25 of them ) however it did give new life to the remaining Plymouths, shooting the value of the cars upward to many times their original worth and now have one in our collection. This car is a original survivor and still on the road since 1957 when the new model was offered. THIS IS A PRESERVATION

OUR 1957` 23 Deluxe Samba Micro bus, European Spec. Built Apr15 1957. Found in 2004 and given a whole new life in 2010. A 6 year restoration.

When does a car bring more smiles to everyone on the road. Where else do you see a vehicle drive down the road with as many windows including a sunroof pulling back the entire length of the bus. These were tourist vehicles to be driven on vacation through the Swiss Alps. They were enjoyed by families who wanted to go on vacation and have the opportunity not to miss anything on their drive and I confirmed it!

THIS COMES FROM FB - I was at a VW Show today in Pennsylvania. Long story short, was discussing my connection with 80's LA(for those who don't know me, I'm the graphic designer who did the 80's LA logo and the Toy Drive Flyer), nonetheless... A guy I was speaking with, who runs a show in Maryland, was telling me how he went to the VW Classic last year. But... He claims the entire reason for the 2 day trip was to see Carlos Guzman's Bus in person. Pretty cool. Small world!
Bob Daniels....

From the Porsche blogs - You propose to put a set of prestigious 911R wheels on a vehicle designed like a bread box and handles like a drunken milf? Propose nothing, I did it!

OUR 1962 BAD TEMPER II Flash back & I con has been found & Re-built, A lone 80`s Logo survivor with a pedigree on the track & on the streets! (((FOR SALE)))

In Latino neighborhoods of Los Angeles in the early to mid 1980’s at a time when every teenager owned or dreamed to own a Volkswagen there was a trend among the cruisers, street racers & Cal-style Volkswagens of having brightly colored VW’s that were themed with detailed logos and scripts. Los Angeles & Hollywood are the media capital of the world and it was only fitting that we would be influenced by the movie studios cartoon & movie characters by having detailed script and images painted on the sides & deck lids of VW’s built during this period, that we like to call the 80’s LA Logo era. The first VW that I remember seeing in LA with writing on the side and not on a full drag strip VW was a street racer called Lil Dreamer soon after there were logo’d VW’s called Baboom, Ragberry, Pink Panther, Bad Temper, BAD TEMPER II,Trouble Maker, Radical Rag,Party Animal, Suicide Solution, Red Alert, Mini Smurf, Double Trouble, Gumby themed, The Blockheads themed, Marvin the Martian, a Ratfink Rat themed, and a Casper the ghost themed were just a few of the Logo’d VW’s I remember cruising and racing in the streets everywhere in LA during this period. The Logo’d cars usually would have the name of the LA neighborhood they were from lettered somewhere usually on the rear fenders. As the popularity of the Logo’d VW’s became widespread throughout the Latino neighborhoods of LA they took on a mystic and aura of legendary proportions as girls and guys would be on the lookout for the latest themed logo’d VW at the cruise spots. These VW’s were referred to by their theme or logos. One such Logo’d VW from that era was Bad Temper II. Bad Temper II was legendary in LA back during this era of logo’d VW’s for having been featured in a major magazine. For a lot of us growing up in LA during that era it validated that there was some innovative and beautiful VW’s coming out of our neighborhoods and not just Orange County. Step back in time for a bit and appreciate 80s LA Calstyle VW's and Logo'd VW's and how Calstyle and logo’d VW’s were a major part of the VW scene in 80’s Los Angeles.

Alex Arredondo (Builder and owner of BT2 in 1985) ‎@Carlos, Thanks for contacting me. The story of "Bad Temper II". I bought the 62' VW from a friend in the early 80's. I built a 1776cc with 48 Webbers then removed the 48's and placed a FB40 turbo. Later I bought a 2110cc engine with a FB6...0 turbo from Ray "Lil Dreamer" and raced the streets of Los Angeles! The car ran a 10.38 at 138 MPH in Bakersfield, CA. In 1990, I sold the engine for a VW style dragster. The VW was sold to someone in Los Angeles. In 2003, a friend told me that he saw the car parked in front of a yard near LA/USC County Medical Center. I was lucky to locate the vehicle and attempted to buy it back. I was told the owner was in Mexico and they would call me back. In 2009, I went back to the address and the car was gone. I have photos of Bad Temper I and II and will provided them to Carlos!

(CRG) After finding this car parked on the side of the road in the Los Angeles great metropolitan area I approached the owner of the car and asked if he would sell this iconic car his answer was NO! he went on to explain what the car was and what it represents I told him I helped build the Bad Temper car due to the fact that I was working for the motor builder of Bad Temper Racing team and knew the car from the inside out. He then agreed to sell it to me on the condition that I would re build it to 1987 Standards. I went beyond that with what you see here now.

OLD SCHOOL DISCO, KROQ-THE ROCK OF THE EIGHTIES & NINETIES , DEPECHE MODE, MORRISSEY,B-52s , OLD SCHOOL FUNK, HOUSE PARTIES WITH PLENTY OF AQUA NET HAS RETURNED AND MAY BLAST DOWN A STREET NEAR YOU.
With today`s technology and know hows Bad Temper 2 has been reborn as it was in 1986 with a two stage color scheme in the correct Grabber Blue sporting a Autolinia high roof stroker motor to a 2332CC built by the Butcher shop and is fed by a pair of 48IDA`s From DRD Racing and with help from Koch`s VW is ready to brawl at any red light.

From the Cal-Look forum: Whoever restored the car deserves props. They did a great job. More importantly they were faithful to the car's details like its unconventional stance. So many people would've taken liberties with things like that.

Anonymous email: I love your bug. Nice job!! I noticed you didn't narrow the beam. Right? I like how your front wheels sit nice on the edge of the fender. I am not a big fan of narrowed beams.

Anonymous email: The Bad temper is a gorgeous machine. Really looks Badaaaas!!!

From the Cal-Look forum: It's cool if you dont dig it, but imo, big sign writing on the sides of cars has been and still is "in style" and has been around for alot longer than six months.

ON FB,By:
Patrick Nelsen, Bad Temper II
A cool car, no doubt but there were a few other cars that were actually ruling the "streets", including a little hot pink buggy owned by Greg Booras (later named and featured in Hot VW's as "Hot Tub" from Orange County making a lot of V8 street racers suck VW turbo dust. i dont ever seeing this car at any of the LA or Orange County street racing hot spots.

Unfortunately a couple of guys died street racing VW's including Spoke McClendan, and a guy named Vince (can't remember his last name) and at the constant urging of Judy Kawell - most of us pulled our cars off the streets. A group of us made a small fortune taking money from the V8 guys with both carbureted and turbo VW's and it was a ton of fun until POLICE started cracking down pretty hard on us, several crashes and then a couple of deaths made us realize how foolish we were acting. I got Cb Performance to put up some money and talked the Sacramento and Phoenix Bug-O-Rama people into giving us a lane to run our turbo cars in what became the "Pro Turbo" class and aside from a couple of telephone arranged street races - that pretty much ended the turbo VW reign of street terror for good - which was a good thing in hindsight.

From the Cal-Look forum: from what i understand, bad temper II is now in the hands of a member of the GFK and will be restored correctly to it's former glory. and while it isnt one of my favourite early-ish drag cars...it is nice to see another one saved!

From the speedwell55.skynetblogs: The bad temper II was built in the 80's and who knew what happened to this one, some years ago the car reappeared in a bad shape and now an enthusiast redid the car as nice as it was back in time.
Good works guys it's nice to see more survivors still alive and kicking.

Johnny Jimenez AKA Barn Door Mafia: Bad Temper ll is a bad ass bug! It brings back tons of memories. I was telling Alex at the last P-Town that I remember driving my bus, 59 deluxe
23 Window, in Highland Park on Figueroa when I saw him and a red vert with a black top on alloys racing! I told him I would never forget that. Bad Temper ll is a part of the VW cult history. Especially for the Latinos. Some of the younger crowd gets it, the others don`t.

Annette Chavez Aleman NICELY SAID.. I'M SO IMPRESSED BY ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK.. ALL OF YOU WITH VOLKSWAGONS.. I BELIEVE ITS A WAY OF LIFE. CONGRATULATIONS!! YOUR STYLE IS WORLD WIDE!! NOT BAD FOR LATINOS COMING OUT OF LA!!!!

1958 PLYMOUTH V8 PLAZA MOPAR!! SOLD NEW AT "AL ROBERTS PLYMOUTH" FROM GARDEN GROVE CALIFORNIA.(((SOLD)))

Known as the Plymouth "Price leader" In 1958 the Plaza offered buyers the widest choice of options to date. Options formerly reserved only for higher priced lines were available on the Plaza for the first time in history. The business coupe which was the least produced model of the Plymouth in 1958(1,472 units). Differed from the regular 2dr club sedan in that the rear seat was an optional accessory. Plymouth also added a special edition to the Plaza fleet in 58. Based on the Plaza Club sedan, The silver special had a custom paint job that consisted of silver paint on the roof and the sportone inserts. Added to that was a short stainless steel spear that accented the front fenders and extended partially into the front doors. The final custom touch was on the rear fins where the silver special bared FORWARD LOOK emblems instead of the traditional Plaza scripts. Out of 94,728 Plazas produced in 1958 it is unknown how many were fitted with the silver special trim package. They are believed to be a very rare car.
