ELECTRIC CAR

This is a 1968 Electric Beetle, which was converted to operate on 100% electric power in 1979. The cost of charging the batteries is 2 cents per mile. It has three 120/240 Volt built in chargers. Top speed 85 MPH, range 65 miles. The battery pack is 144 Volts, controller 500 Amps, battery capacity 17 kWh. Maximum acceleration power is 72,000 Watts, which produce 61 HP. Battery heaters improve the performance and range. Electric space heaters provide heat through the heating and window defroster vents.

The EV Album has over 2,700 EV’s; you may find someone in your area with an Electric Beetle.

why can't you put solar panel/panels on the roof for a moving recharger?

To charge the car each day after a 10 mile drive it would take 150 panels covering an area of 700 feet by 300 feet and cost is over $100,000.

I pay 20 ¢ for power to recharge after the same distance drive.

At 5% interest $100,000 would yield about $14 per day.
