Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, February 26 & 27, 2008 had the Hoxie Mustang Baseball team on the field practicing their batting and catching out in the field. Practicing through bone chilling temperature and on a soggy field had the team struggling to perform.

Monday, March 17, 2008, the Hoxie Mustangs pitted their baseball skills against Marmaduke Greyhounds on their home field. The Mustangs lost to the Greyhounds with a score of 4 to 1.
The Junior Varsity played following the Varsity game but daylight faltered before the game was over.

Saturday, April 5, 2008, the Hoxie Mustangs hosted the Lawrence County Tournament which saw the following teams from Lawrence County in play: Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats, Walnut Ridge Bobcats, Hoxie Lady Mustangs, Hoxie Mustangs, Black Rock Zebras, Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles, Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles, Sloan Hendrix Lady Greyhound and the Sloan Hendrix Greyhounds. The tournament was scheduled to start Friday afternoon, April 4, 2008, but due to the recent floods and persistent rains, the tournament was postponed to be held in it's entirety Saturday, April 5, 2008.
