Sunday, January 27, 2008, the Hoxie Volunteer Fire Department was called out just before 3:45 PM to a house fire at 2002 SE Front. The house appeared to have been abandoned or between tenets. Wednesday evening shortly before 8P.M., February 13, 2008, the Hoxie Volunteer Fire Department and the Walnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department was paged out to a residence at 2222 S.E. Maple in Hoxie that was reportly fully engulfed in fire. When the fire departments arrive there was visible smoke from the peek of the roof as well as cinders from the attic of the residence were viable as well. Saturday afternoon, March 1, 2008 slightly before 3:30 P.M. the Hoxie Volunteer Fire Department and Medic One Ambulance was called to the scene of a two vehicle accident at the junction of Hwy 63 Bypass and Hwy 67 South Hoxie. Apparently the van pulled in front of the sedan while trying to enter the bypass. Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in case of possible neck injuries. Just before 1:30 P.M. Monday afternoon, March 17, 2008, the Hoxie and Walnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Departments were called out to a residential fire on S.E. Elm St. in Hoxie. The residence turned out to be a duplex with both sides having extreme fire and smoke damage to the interiors. Monday morning, April 7, 2008, the Walnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a fire engulfing the landmark Hob Nob Restaurant on Hwy North 67b. The Walnut Ridge Fire Department also enlisted the assistance of the Hoxie Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Alicia Volunteer Fire Department in battling the fire. The Hob Nob served a lunch buffet for many years as well as their selections for breakfast and including supper. The Hob Nob also has been the residence of many individuals passing thru as well as weekly renters in the Hob Nob Hotel, adjacent to the restaurant. Shortly before 5 A.M. Sunday , May 4, 2008, the Walnut Ridge Fire Department and the Hoxie Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a residential fire on S. W. Sixth in Walnut Ridge. The home was engulfed in fire at the rear of the residence that the Firemen got under control quickly leaving only smoke coming from the attic of the home.
