Just before 1:30 P.M. Monday afternoon, March 17, 2008, the Hoxie and Walnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Departments were called out to a residential fire on S.E. Elm St. in Hoxie. The residence turned out to be a duplex with both sides having extreme fire and smoke damage to the interiors. The fire departments got the fire under control quickly minimizing the damage to the structure.
