Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2008, the Walnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Free Street and Highway 412 in a effort to prevent traffic from entering Free Street from Highway 412 due to a telephone pole giving way in today's wind. The pole effected leans precariously to the right as the wind causes it to bob up and down on it's wires that are holding the pole up. due to a telephone pole giving way in today's wind. Shortly prior to 7 PM the Walnut Ridge Emergency Services dispatched the Walnut Ridge Fire Department as well as a area ambulance to the junction of Highway 67 B North and the bypass. A single vehicle motor accident had occurred when the driver of a North bound car either fell asleep or blacked out and drifted across the highway and ran into the South bound ditch. During the driver's wild ride the vehicle hit a field entrance road and became airborne and landed upright in the ditch on the other side of the road. vehicle motor accident had occurred when the driver of a North bound car either fell asleep or blacked out and drifted across the highway and ran into the South bound ditch. Tuesday morning, November 25, 2008, the Walnut Ridge Hazmat, Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Walnut Ridge Police Department, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medic One Ambulance, Arkansas Excellent Transport and Darrell Steel Trucking all participated in a hazmat drill produced by the Lawrence County Office Of Emergency Services. The drill's story was that a transport truck carrying hazardous material had been involved in a traffic accident which allowed diesel as well as a unknown substance to leak from the truck. There were over five injuries with varying state of involvement in the accident, portrayed by employees of Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Lawrence Hall Nursing Home. The drill was deemed a success after all involved were either dismissed from the scene or the hospital following the drill's closure. and Darrell Steel Trucking all participated in a hazmat drill produced by the Lawrence County Office Of Emergency Services. Tuesday evening, December 2, 2008, the Walnut Ridge Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Christmas Parade down town Walnut Ridge. There were several emergency vehicles from Walnut Ridge and surrounding towns as well as ambulances, fire trucks, rescue and hazmat vehicles along with horses and commercial vehicles that were presented in the parade. A few vehicles and floats are absent from the album due to over heating of my flash. surrounding towns as well as ambulances, fire trucks, rescue and hazmat vehicles along with horses and commercial vehicles that were presented in the parade.
