Sunday afternoon, April 8, 2007, a transport truck hauling a roll of steal over turned as he crossed the median from the South lane of Hwy 67 at the Hwy 412 junction on the Walnut Ridge/Hoxie bypass. The guard rail on the North bound lane prevented the overturned truck from entering the lane of traffic. The Walnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, Rescue 7, Walnut Ridge Police Department, the Arkansas State Police, Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Medic One all responded to the call of the over turned transport. The driver of the transport had to be cut out of the twisted cab of the transport but once the steering wheel and other objects in the way were cut away by the recovery team walked away from the accident with little more than a small scratch to his elbow.
