Penang is a small island connected to the Malaysian mainland by a long impressive bridge. Although multi-ethnic, there is a distinctly Chinese flavour to the place.
Penang was, for a short time, the intended colonial gateway to Malaysia.

Also there a many malls and department stores selling a wide range of goods... including the most expendsive western fashion brands like Gucci.

Kuala Lumpur, or "KL" as everyone seems to call it, is a modern city with many beautiful new buildings.
