My Father Julian Willis
Fischer, Texas

34 152 091 Technical Sergeant, 52nd Air Engineer Squadron, 330th Air Services Group

Daddy fought in W.W.II., in the U.S. Army Air Forces (also affectionately referred to as the Army Air Corps. The separated Air Force was established in 1947), and was on Iwo Jima at he end of the war. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps October 14, 1941, at Camp Shelby, Mississippi and served until November 22, 1945.

He had a lot of friends and was respected by most that knew him. He was the real deal; a man's man.

My Mother Ruth Lawson Willis
Fischer, Texas

She was and is the best women I have ever known. Her life's motto was "I'd rather have Jesus." She raised five children with a spirit as pure as gold and a servant's heart. Mother had the rare gift of encouragement and always saw the best in people.
Randy Willis' Ancestors
Many of my ancestors were Baptists, but far from all were.

Many have fought in the major wars and served this country well. My fifth great-grandfather Rev. Joseph fought in the Revolutionary War. My great-grandfather Daniel Willis, Jr., served in the Civil War for the South. Dr. Daniel Oscar Willis and Dr. Greene Strother served in World War I. Dr. Strother captured more Germans than any other soldier, besides the famed Sgt. York, in World War I. He was awarded the French Croix de Guerre, the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart. He also served as chaplain to General Claire Chennault’s "Flying Tigers" while in China as a missionary.

A host of descendants of Rev. Joseph Willis fought in World War II including my father. His first-cousin, Robert K. "Bobby" Willis Jr., was the first casualty from Rapides Parish, Louisiana in World War II. The American Legion Post in Pineville, Louisiana (his last hometown) was named the Robert K. "Bobby" Willis Jr. Post in honor of his service and duty to his country. (This American Legion Post no longer exists). He is entombed in the USS Arizona at the bottom of Pearl Harbor. He was the first casualty from Rapides Parish, Louisiana in World War II.

Julia Coatney Willis (known as Aunt Coatney) was born March 11, 1883 (123 years ago). She died 16 August 16, 1945. She was the last female born in my direct Willis' genealogical linage. Aunt Coatney married Harry Scarbrough. They had one daughter named Audrey Ethel Scarbrough (b. March 1, 1907; d. October 22, 1980) who married Kent Hayden (b. June 18, 1906; d. November 16, 1984). Audrey and Kent Kane Hayden, Sr. had two sons named Charles Hayden and Kent Kane Hayden, Jr. Julia Coatney Willis Scarbrough died of a heart attack and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery at San Bernardino, California.

Julia Coatney Willis "Aunt Coatney" was the youngest daughter of Daniel Hubbard Willis, Jr. (1839-1900) & Julia Ann Graham Willis (1845-1936). Julia Coatney Willis' siblings were: Henry Elwa Willis (1867-1945), Carvelia S. Willis (1869-1941), Minnie R.
