As a small boy living in Laure, MS, I spent many a night t the Laurel fairgrounds where the race track was located. My dad any friends of his were in the stock car racing with #65, Carson Hill the driver. I loved watching the super modified racers and Mr. Gene was my favorite. I remember my dad talking about Mr. Gene and how he liked him, my dad said, he was a good man who loved the sport of racing. My dad died in 2000 but we often talked about the older times when racing in Laurel, Mobile and then Pensacola at night on the weekends. Many memories as a young boy that I remember in my older age in my late 50's. Wish I could turn back time..... Loved Mr. Genes racing. p.s. I was in Mobile when Mr. Gene won the big race laps ahead of the others. I also remember a race car (super modified) burning in the middle of the track in front of the grand stand.... I saw many wrecks on those racing night with the stock cars too... Remembered
