Tommy was my grandfather. I was wondering if you could tell me more about his racing days.

Tommy Andrews was a great local race car builder and driver.  He loved Fords.  His main number was 21, and he always enjoyed racing.  I can't tell you how many races he won but, I can tell you he or his cars won many. He raced at Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, Nashville, and many other race tracks across the country.  He also raced in the Nascar Grand Touring Series back in the 1970s which ran Mustangs and Camaros.  He had a Fun sense of humor... one-time at Huntsville Speedway they were having a Powder Puff race (a race for ladies), and just before the start it was announced Tommy was in one of the race cars as a joke, and was asked to step out of the car. When he did the fans cheered and laughed as he was in a partial dress and wig, and laughing hilariously.  It brought the house down.   He was a good father, and husband.  Years later I had the pleasure of working with his wife, Margie. She traveled with Tommy to many races throughout the country.
