This is the original '33 chevy Bill Morton built in the winter of 65-66. It was originally built with a 3 window coupe body and hilborn fuel injection purchased from Ky.'s Wayne McGuire. Its current '33 chevy sedan body was installed for its final season in '68. He finished runnerup in points in 66 & 68 while winning the modified track championship in '67 at the Kingsport Spdy. carrying #56 on its doors. After Kingsport quit running the modifieds after the '68 season, it set in Bill's garage in Church Hill Tn. in 1969. The newly opened Appalachian Spdy. ( also in Kingsport ) held a open competition race in the fall of' '70 where it raced and won its final race. In the late 70's dad and myself removed the body and simply cleand the car up. It was later sold to Little Bud Moore where it spent one summer in Dollywood at the grand opening of Jukebox Junction. To my knowledge, the car has always been kept in house and never been completely restored........Tony ( Bill Morton's son )
This car is frequently represented as being Gene Glovers. Actually this car was built and driven by a friend of mine from Bristol; TN. and it still exists today.
Here is what I know. The late Don Sanders of Columbis Tn restored the Jimmy Gregs car in 709 trim. He was a very good body man and a Great sign painter as you can tell by the detal on the car. He had orignal plans to run it as a B car in memphis. He then sold the car to the late Giles Grant and it became the no 6. The car then was very badly damaged in a fire at Giles storage faculty. Some of the parts ie front axel were used on the sedan that Jerry Vaughn and Giles built. I think Ms Grant still has what is left of the car. If I think of more I will post.
