Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers Photo Workshop   RSS
Photo Workshop put on by the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers Association at Rocky Mountain National Park. Five categories of images including: Wildlife, scenics, flowers, people in nature and miscellaneous. Won "Best of Show" award for Sprague Lake sunrise, and 1st place in flower category for flower on rock and 1st place in miscellaneous category with sunset above Trail Ridge Road. 2nd place and honorable mention for a number of other images.

Cervus elaphus. I remember the first one I saw in the wild. I couldn't believe how big it really was comparred to white-tailed deer. The only bigger animal I ever saw in the wild was a moose and I could have driven a VW under it's belly. They are BIG!

Cloud country in the alpine tundra. It's beautiful up there. I once saw a golden eagle swoop in and snatch up a marmot for lunch.

Getting that close to wild elk is really a stupid thing to do. Good thing there are no hinds in sight or these big fellas might feel a bit territorial and shish-ka-bob him on those antlers, velvet nowithstanding..
