My delightful resident hen blackbird shows how fearless and beautiful she is. I never used macro photography for birds....until today.

Nestling in a beautiful North Yorkshire valley, this Augustinian Priory was founded in 1120.
These peaceful ruins sit next to the River Derwent, across which the old bridge gives access to the site.Fabulous in summer, it is still an intriguing place to visit on this cloudy January day.

My travels have taken me around North and East Yorkshire....these are a few of the pictures I have taken recently.

We have had so much rain and wind this month, then, we get a lovely day here and there. Our local rivers are at alarmingly high levels, there are trees blown over by the wind, and no sign of snow.....yet. Just crazy.

This has been the most beautiful morning for a long time, even though the temperature was -7 to start it was well worth getting up early.
