Do you know anything about this particular car? I saw the expired posting on Ebay and saw that it was in Italy...I might be willing to take the wife on a vacation if it was worth it. Don't know a lot about these cars (will have to dust off the old magazines and do some internet searching). Any info or direction you could supply would be welcome. Email address is oldfastback@yahoo.com
Was this a pic of an M81 on the showroom back in 1980 or is this car currently on display somewhere. Is the white car yours. The only one of these cars I have ever seen for sale was the blue 82 enduro car. It is still in excellent shape, but is not original. I think the guy was asking 40k. I dont think enough people even knew what he had to make an offer on the car. There is a 79 Pacecar that has a full mclaren body kit on it in my area. Its sitting in a driveway going to rot, but the guy wont sell.
Do you who built the car?..I understand that only 13 hoods were built and 13 of the cars are accounted for 10 M81 and 3 82 GT Enduro's..I was told by Mike Archer(who toured the cars in 82 for Ford/Firestone) that the one I had was a Firestone Car..but I not a 100 percent convenced that it isn't a kit..I found the second owner who bought it from the president of Fremont Ford in California in 83..I'm starting to think there were as few kits (DSO)as there were the M81's.. This is Derrick's car and it's a real M81 that was driven enough that it needs a total resto. I don't have any other info about these cars from any first hand sources. I'm just a fan.
I`ve got an 81 Capri with the M81 kit and the airdam was damaged when purchased and wastegate hood was not with the car. Any info on this car or kit or parts would be appreciated,I`m trying to decide what to do with it. It has 18k orig. mi. and is rust free.
