From the Archives: 1967 Jaguar Pirana Bertone Prototype
The Jaguar Pirana was a one-off Jaguar prototype commissioned by John Anstey of the Daily Telegraph newspaper for the 1967 Earl's Court Motor Show built by the coachbuilder Bertone. Built on a Jaguar E-Type 2+2 chassis, it was styled by Bertone chief stylist Marcello Gandini and was built in just six months. It was for sale in the Palm Springs area in 2010 when I photographed for a magazine story that didn't come to fruition. Complete details on the car can be found at http://bit.ly/JIYszb and I was able to track down a promotional brochure at http://bit.ly/MMXAQk
Update 5/25/2012 -- I just talked with the current owner of the car, who bought it from the dealer who helped me with this photo shoot and I will be updating this description with more information on this car as it becomes available.
