Group AA tournament, Region I champion New Kent (23-3) hosted Region II runner-up Fort Defiance (near Waynesboro). Fort Defiance (22-4) is in the state playoffs for the first time after years of being close.Fort Defiance knocked longtime power Turner Ashby off the top seat in the Valley District by ending an 87-game district winning streak. New Kent advanced after beating rival Poquoson last week 4-2.

New Kent scored two in the first to beat Fort Definace 2-0 to advance to the State finals on Friday.
