Frederick Douglass Home

We went to the Anacostia Museum, which is about African American history. Lincoln made Thanksgiving a national holiday. Laws ensured slaves did not dress better than whites.

Then we went down the street to the Frederick Douglass Home. Obama's daughters were there yesterday. It was preserved after he died, so it has all the original furniture and accessories.

Frederick Douglass was born a slave and learned to read/write. He was an amazing orator who worked to end slavery and give women the right to vote. His first wife was a free black woman; his second wife was a white woman. He also had a man cave he called 'The Growler'.
