Bonny, liked your portraits album: many good characters and well-told life-stories. I liked this photo more than others, as this man's life story is told by the image itself... it is the art of photography!
Bonnie, not to diminish your human portraits, this one is just outstanding: so much for humankind superiority to our "smaller brothers"! I love this picture!
Because this album is a special project, I have taken the liberty of transporting comments for this photo of Smokey from the 'Face in the Crowd' contest. Thank you all for your comments, they are important to me. GKGK said "good!..very good", My-vanya said "magnificent portrait" and MsFocker said "deep photo, his story adds to the photo. you have great eye (and soul) to spot 'a face in the crowd'"
i worked on railway for 37 years. over the period of years i met or at least was aware of many of like individuals. many of these people have difficulties. i have viewed how most of society will make a detour rather than have eye contact with them, and skiddish they may think the public may think they are associated with them when observed in there presence.
Yes "R", I've noticed that too, and that's why my 'portraits' project is important to me, to help bring compassion and understanding for those of us who do not appear 'normal' to the world. I commend you for working hard over the years to show the same thing. Thanks for commenting. Bonnie.
vivian never complained about some water damage that occured to her wall..its a slow process to fix the wall and i found the time over a few days. she has lived here for near 4 years and even I do not know much about her.
Hey, hi there "R" and thanks for visiting my website to see your tenants in my Portraits album (and thanks again for helping to set up the photo shoot with them). Vivian is private, indeed, and I'm so thankful she gave her permission. I know you work hard to get all the work done at the apartments and it all takes time. The damaged wall is an integral part of the photo but I'm glad it has now been repaired for that sweet lady. Bonnie
A refreshingly selfless description of what must have been at the time a heartbreaking situation. The two of you have given me strength and hope. I am so glad I visited your albums.
There, but by the grace of God...Reminds me of the countless homeless addicts that frequented the ER I worked in for seven years. I would sometimes have to sit for hours with these individuals while they sobered up enough to go about their business. Sometimes we fought, sometimes we talked, sometimes we held hands or each other. I always walked away at the end of the shift greatful and as you experienced, humble. Great choice for the face in the crowd contest. Photo description is wonderful.
