CCM Open Feb. 10/2007

Tommy and I traveld the 1150 km to Stockholm by car. My wifes Fiat Punto was loaded with some stuff for sale, warm clothes and 63 buillt models.
Tommy had 32, I had 29, and we brought 2 for our ...more

friend Kjetil. There was 63 attandees at the show, 4 from Norway and 26 from Finland as well as the Swedes from all over the southern Sweden. 10 was juniors. The Finns tok home a lot of the prizes, but we brought a first and a second back home. Staying in Stockholm over the night, we drove to Karlstad for the last stage of Rally Sweden. A first for both me and Tommy looking at a WRC rally. Then we drove back Home. 2300 km in a weekend, but wow it was worth it. Espacially thanks to Anett who made the saturday evening everything but boreing.

Norwegian Challange 2007

September 22. was the annual NC model show in Drammen held. 211 entries, by 51 modelers showed that the show are very stabil on 200 models pluss. The nicest thing was all the new faces that arrived, ...more

and the sight of one of the best carmodelers in Norway was back in a contest after years of laying low. The result was a huge amount of prices, including two or three classwins.

Jæren Model Show 2007

At november 3. I was responseble for my annual model show. It was the 11th time I was the general, and finally I feel to get the hang on it.
To have a modelshow is not the same living in a small ...more

country compared with contries with bigger, not that wast population as in Norway.
There was 21 classes, which two was junior classes. 33 participants showed 162 models, both records for the show. 11 of the builder was juniors, so here this year show must have set something near a world record. Guess if I'm happy. Please enjoy the pictures, all models are represented, except two.
Hope Torgeir Eikeland and Kristian Solli will forgive me. I forgot Torgeirs Skua, and Kristians '55 Pick Up.

CCM 2008

February 9th was the date for the annual show by Capital City Modelers of Stockholm Sweden.
75 entrants displayed 355 models. 7 of the entrants being juniors.
A big kontigent from finland were ...more

present, and three norwegians.
Juha Airio and Tapani Rauramo brought as usual some new resincastngs of european cars. This time it was a Saab 96 and a Volvo P1800. They was all sold rather fast. The Saab was casted by Juha, but this master was made by a teenager. They have some amazing builders over there.
On the show table Juha showed a '32 "Edsel", a cutom rod made combining the Revell '32 3W and the AMT '58 Edsel, and won the rod class with this imaculate model.
He also showed us a Revell Acura Integra RSX, and yes, it is possible to add several touches to this kit as well, making it overwhelming.
Tapani Rauramo showed a Renault Dauphine based on the old Premiere kit, beating me which have planing a simular build using a old Hubley. Insted I bought my self a second Hubley Dauphine, that is in a harder plastic(styrene) then the soft one I got from before. Lucky me also got a '76/7 ford F350 in a bag, for 2.5 dollars, and a RMofM Topolino for less then 1 dollar. The Fiat body was cracked some plases, but not in pieces, and will be rather easy to restore, otherwise it was unstarted. I also bought my self a Revell 928 for 6 dollars, it was the collord parts only, but since I got one complete with broken body, it fitted me excellent. For those not common with Scaninavian prices, a model kit from AMT are arround 32-40 dollars at the HS. Revell kits have a tendency beeing even more expencive, so the Porsche was cheap!! I also bought some more aftermarket detailing parts, and paint, and a partskit Scania 141. I sold some stuff, making my trip rather cheap, and thats nice, afterall the roadtrip was a total of 2300 km.

IPMS Rogaland 2008

After some years not haveing theire own, but a joint, modelshow, the local IPMS club made a very nice show April 26th.
It was invited to 21 classes, three beeing junior classes. One class was ...more

deleted, and two other put together, making 19 fine classes.
At the end of the day everyone was satisfied with one nice, smooth show, with buying and selling modelkits, as well as looking at many excellent built models.
I do look forward to theire next modelshow, and hope it will be back to annual shows as before.

Grefens Glue Galore 2008

June 28th was the day for the 10th annual GGG. With more then 90 contenders, and more then 500 models displayed in the contest, and 50 pluss outside the competition, it was a lot of nice models to ...more

rest Your eyes at. Claes, "The Count", called up all those that had been there at all the shows. A norwegian, yep me, had during these years travelled Sandnes-Hawai and back total to be among my friends. Arround 28 hours travelling each year, arround 12 days with travelling. As long as my health allow it, and the shows goes on, I'll be there. It is my absolute nicesest weekend each year.

I have to apollogice for the photos. If You blow them up, You will see they are not very clear. I wish I had a external controll, limiting the vibration in the camera. I prefere to picture as many as possible, insted of creating phothos that is 100%. So time is a factor when I take pictures at such big shows.

Norwegian Challange 2008

September 27. was the date for this years NC. A new general, Niclas Gedde, has taken controll, but Atle Eriksen was still lurking arround in the showroom, as well as he was the man telling the crowd ...more

who manage to get which prize at the end of the day. The show was also having a new location, as well as having some new classes. There was not as many models as ususal, but this was expected because of the change of weekend for the show. Still this was one excellent show, and I'm happy I did the trip, as it was worth every second.
Here You see some pictures from the show. It was as usual "speed" picturing, so some pictures are very bad, but I think You will get the right impressions anyway. Please enjoy!

IPMS Norway Nationals 2009

This year I attended the IPMS Nationals here in Norway. It was a big show, with a lot of happenings for the adult builders. After the show room was closed at the saturday evening, it was pizza buffe, ...more

and more happenings for the adult builders. Sunday, the showroom opened up ten in the morning. More activities for the adult modelles, as well as the IPMS Norway Annual Year Meeting.
As You see I have used the word adult a lot in here, and the reason is very obvius. During the weeknd there was a lot of presentations about teqnichs. Great stuff all of them I was told, and a big cheer from me as well. I admire the work of all those teaching away theire knowledge. Also all those activities that was, and the model tabels, filled with more then 400 models. The judgment, everything was excellent, and very well orginiced. It was a thrill see the judges checking every singel model, and I didn't envy them at all.
Still, IPMS have as one of theire main goals to recrute youngsters to our hobby, and the only thing I saw that was done trying to make the youngsters love this hobby even more, was two classes on the competition table. I might agree it is not neccesary with more classes, but what with all those hours during this week. What could be done to make them even more happy? Though this was a show where I manage to sell well, got several prizes, and talked with several old friends, I'm actually most dissapointed. I don't think there is much I can do with it, but those reading this, might be the right people to manage something more for the next generation.
Just my thaughts.
PS! I edited this text the day after I wrote it, due to it might be missunderstood. I'm very impressed about the work done, but I just felt we didn't delivered when it comes to the Youngsters.

IPMS Rogaland 2009

Saturday April 18th, the local IPMS club had their modelshow at theire usual meeting place, at "Sola Airplane Museum". Totally there was 114 models on the contest tables. Planes, autos, and military ...more

vehicles dominating.
A third of the contenders was junior builders, many coming from the the small port of Sokndal, in the very south of Rogaland. This small comunity must be one of those with the most modelbuilders for each 1000 citizens in the world. As I know it is at least 2 adults, and 15 teenagers that is active. On top of this I know several more adults there that is on and of. Making it more then 0.5 of the citizens in the "city".
I'm sorry for the poor quality on some of the pictures. I used my mobile phone, as I didn't had the time taking proper pictures with my Canon EOS. Still I will not remove the poorest ones, as I find it more importent that they all are present. Enjoy!

Grefens Glue Galore 2009

"The Counts Glue Galore" 2009 was a big success in new place. Afther in 10 years been held in the city of Motala, they had moved approx 30 km out of the city, to the small place Brunnsby. Good light, ...more

and plenty of space for near 500 models, built by over 80 builders. There was Norwegians, and Finns that had travelled to this great show in Sweden. At least 9 from Finland, with builders as Juha Airio and Tapani Rauramo. There was at least 8 Norwegians, with Atle Eriksen, Niclas Gedde, Sigve Hansen and more. Sigve Hansen was the one builder that had travelled the longest to be precent, with very excact 1000km one way.
Too me this must have been the best show I have attended. The big swap, servere amount of nice models, and several long talks with Juha Airio, Claes Beck Friis, Atle Eriksen, and meeting all those dedicatet builders in general have never been more giving. I ended up getting some new models for own projects. AMT Hillbillys Truck(12$), '76 MPC Pacer X(50$), Air-Trax Triumph TR4(75€), Air-Trax MG 1100(75€) and Air-Trax '56? Alfa Guilietta(75€) as well as some model wax, Ross Gibson Ford Thunderbird engine, and a 0.3 mm drill. I spent like 500$ total, but it was worth every cent.
That the saturday evening was a barbeque at one of the local camping places, was not bad either. Finns and Norwegians enjoyed good food, and some litres "fuel" was gone when we got to bed in the early hours. Wow, what a weekend.

RACCmini 2009

Then it was done. This was the 13th modelshow I have been general for since '97, and it might have been the one most satisfying ever. In the invitation we opted for 26 classes, but we ended with 17. ...more

There was 119 models on the tables, which was far from the record, but it was a total of 26 builders, which was close to the best ever. It was the best ever when it comes to Juniorbuilders thou. 10 of the 26 was Juniors, and three of them under 13. Well done boys, and girls.
Yes, it was a girl who runned of with the best Junior up to 18, Automotive prize. There was two girls competing. / of these Juniors came from Hauge I Dalane, arround 1.5 hour car trip south of Sandnes. There was also builders from Arendal and Grimstad from further south of Norway, and Tørrvikbygd, and Bergen from further northwest.Longest trip beeing arround 5 hours travelling.
Trygve Jeppestøl was the big winner this day. He won several classes, as well as the Best Paint, Best Interior, and Best In Show Senior.
Congratulation. The theme class this Year was "rear engine", and here it was a Renault 8, built by Sigve Hansen, that runned of with the 1st prize.. As it was decided "French", will be the next years Theme Class, it isn't impossible that the very same model will manage two in a row. Be sure that Sigve registered that imidiately. So the plan is alredy set for RACCmini 2010, and I hope You all remeber to mark that saturday, late october next year, for a visit to our show.
Thank You to Kjetil, Bent Ronny, Tommy, Anita, and Atle for all the help.
