- I experienced some MAJOR damage from a bad perm! I've been cutting to get rid of the damaged ends, and now I'm ready to transition! YAHOO!! Basically, I had been going to a stylist for years... She did a great job with my hair. One day, she decided to use a different perm, without asking me, and it went downhill from there. The ONLY way I discovered it was a different perm is because I could tell a difference in the smell. Ladies, be careful about who you trust in your hair. I trusted her, whom I think is a wonderful person, but she failed to let me know her plans to switch relaxers. In my humble opinion, that is what caused my hair to suffer
