*New* Henna How-To

Hey all,
I decided to make a new Henna tutorial for you guys. I've found better results with this new method of hennaing my hair, even though it's not too different from what I did in the other one. These instructions are a bit more straightforward, so hopefully they will be of help if you are interested in using henna!

Just a little FYI on henna:
Henna is a natural plant dye and skin tattoo that does a great job conditioning and subtly coloring the hair a natural-looking reddish/orangish/brown tone. On black hair, it is most noticeable in the sunlight.

Prep Step #2:
Vaseline and Plastic Gloves

Before you apply, make sure you have two plastic gloves and some vaseline. Apply the vaseline generously all over your hands, upper forearms, and neck. Also apply some next to your hairline on your forehead, and around your face. Apply a good amount to your ears, and around/behind the ears as well. Be sure to apply a lot on the BACK of your neck since that's where the henna will most likely touch your skin once it is applied on your hair.
Slathering Vaseline all over your skin may seem gross, but henna is also a natural skin tattoo, so if it touches your skin, it will color it an orangish-brown tone. Vaseline helps avoid this, along with the plastic gloves. Do NOT apply henna without plastic gloves.

is there another option for the vaseline? my skin doesn't care for that so i'm wondering if there's a more skin friendly option? thanks!

Hmm, I think regular skin lotion, or baby oil can do the trick. Vaseline is definitely the best option, though. You can wash it off right after applying the henna, if that would help. But yeah, regular skin lotion should work, too.
