    I love stones

Pumice is a natural lava-based substance that is expelled from volcanoes. The glassy finish and abrasive texture of pumice have resulted in a number of household and construction-based uses for the volcanic substance.

Pumice is created when a volcano erupts and spews lava. The lava, which is very hot when it comes out of the volcano, rapidly cools when it is exposed to the cooler air outside. This rapid cooling transforms the lava into a sort of glass.

Pumice has found popular use as a consumer material for a few reasons. As volcanic activity happens globally, pumice is naturally produced in many countries. As pumice is produced in many places and often doesn't require extensive processing, it can be a cost-effective alternative to other products. The unique qualities of the glassy substance have resulted in many uses of pumice in a number of different industries.

One of the main qualities of pumice is that it is abrasive. This abrasive quality makes it valuable in applications that require a scrubbing substance. For example, some natural household cleaners have been developed that use pumice to help scour stains from appliances. Other products use pumice as a way of cleaning and scrubbing skin from the body, such as from the bottom of the feet. The abrasiveness of pumice helps make it a useful cleaning and scrubbing product. Additionally, as pumice is a naturally-occurring substance, using pumice instead of more chemically-based cleaners can have environmental benefits as well.

Additionally, pumice has found a variety of other uses. The lightweight quality of pumice makes it useful in some aspects of construction. When incorporated into concrete, plaster or other construction materials, it can be substantially lighter than other mixtures. As pumice is naturally-occuring and can be found around a number of volcanic sites worldwide, it can also be more cost-effective than other construction materials.

From a natural substance that is expelled from volcanoes, pumice has found a surprising number of uses. From cleaning supplies to building materials, pumice can be found in a number of everyday items. As a naturally-occurring, cost-effective material, pumice has gained acceptance in many uses.
