Come to think of it, he's probably right. I took this photo in 1985, and the Crown Vic is already missing one of its bumper guards. As for the "baby LTD", however, I'm fairly sure that's an '84.

I believe that the LTD Crown Vic is a 1983 model because that was the only year for the blacked out squares in the grill, later years were argent (silver).

these are both ford LTDs one is the midsize model on the fox platform, the other is a Crown Victoria panther platform and they look to be 1983-85 for the small one and 83-87 for the crown vic just visually.
