A Pair of Cactus Wrens, Gila Woodpecker, Big Black Snake and a Swarm of Bees

I noticed a pair of cactus wrens with a nest in a joshua tree trying to protect their nest from a large black snake. A gila woodpecker from near by had joined in the defense. I was limited in my access to the situation and the battle didn't last very long. The king snake was no match for the powerful woodpecker. Just as the snake left the tree I noticed that the bees in a nearby paloverdi tree were getting very loud. That's because their numbers had swollen to thousands. I found myself amid a huge swarm of bees. None of the photos turned out exceptionally well. However, it was an interesting few minutes.
