Captive subject and an old aquaintance. The photo was taken at the Desert Museum. Two siblings were rescued. I believe mother was shot. The smaller of the two had a defective beak at birth and died a month or two ago now. I've followed their progress or lack there of for nearly three years now in two different habitats There's a load of photos in the Stilts album in the Birds folder if you are interested. Black necked Stilt by the way.
Thank you very much for taking the time... The photo was taken at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. They were just transfered to this exhibit where they serve as leopard frog tadpole control.
You've seen these two before. They were just moved from the walk through aviary to a smaller glass front enclosure in the "Life on the Rocks" exhibit at the Desert Museum. Seems life in the aviary was a bit too stressful. They have a steady supply of leopard frog tadpoles here and seem to be much happier. By the way, your hummingbird in the weekly is amazing! Superb.
