Wow what a monster - did you rotate vertical for a reason?  I really like the horizontal view he looks more identifiable for me.  Fabulous image - love it!

I agree. Like it horizontal myself. Mostly just checking out how It looked vertical. However, I have found that sometimes going vertical allows me to enlarge the photo more before the dreaded grain shows up. Appreciate the input!

The grasshoippers here in the Sonoran Desert are so cool. In many cases each instar is significantly different . It's hard to tell if you are shooting something new or just a young version of something you have shot alot of in the past. Love the stellar eyes and zebra wing on this little nymph. Grey areas are actually rather metalic like brushed or polished aluminium.I wish I would have given the eye a little more brightness and a tad more color. Caught an unfortunate shadow from somewhere.

Very nice Macro.  I used to use these insects for Bass fishing, they made great bait.  Love the striped eyes....

Yup. The "smallies" will go airborn for them. lol A grasshopper speciesI have only been able to find in the walk through hummingbird enclosure at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Blue markings on the head are true color. Blue sky reflected in the eye through the mesh roof.

what a truly beautiful shot. I love the way he's sitting on the rose, too. Oh, this looks like a katydid nymph. My search of bugguide.net comes up perhaps with Scudderia mexicana. what a great find!
