Wendi, would you share what your lens is? The data shows 105mm. You have outstanding DOF without losing any detail in the subject. I have great glass, but have had limited sucess with macros.
I'm Shooting with a Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8GED AF-S. Rule of thumb is higher F-Stop = more DOF, Right? Well, to be honest, it just does not always seem to work out that way for me either. lol I think that coming to terms with a new piece of equipment is alot like learning to play a new musical instrument. You just have to get out there and bang away at it until it is an extension of your being. I shoot alot of well thought out experimentall brackets and try to remember the settings that appeal to me most. Gotta love digital photography. Hope there is some useful info for you in my rambling. Thanks! Chris
The Raptor Free Flight Exhibit at the Desert Museum really offers a unique opportunitiy to get some fun in flight photos of the local birds of prey and the consistent practice really pays off when I'm shooting birds and insects in flight in more natural or "unstaged" settings. Thanks :)
Thank you, Cindy. Actually broke down and used the tripod for that one :) A great week about a month ago. I broke discipline and got about a month behind in the editing. I've been shooting bugs like a man posessed for about four weeks now as the monsoon season draws to a close. Temps are still in the triple digits so I don't think they will be very long lived this year. I've learned the hard way that some of the bugs around here just are not available every year. Or maybe their life spans are so short you are just fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. I've been itching to get another shot at the panther spotted grasshopper and the ironcross blister beetle with the Nikon for two years now. Hope you're having a great weekend! Chris
