      :) My brother and I noticed him do this funny little dance. I later realized that the rock must have been very hot. He must have been trying not to burn himself. Many times we fing lizards dead in parking lots. They are not run over by cars. They cook as they are trying to cross. Temperatures on and near the ground can reach 71C. This can also severely burn the hands and feet of young children and infants

      Thank you so much. Enjoyed following your travel adventures. I don't think I've seen a regal horned lizard for about two years now. They are among the most ornate of the horned lizards. Ran into quite a few in '08. I have noticed a decline in many species of insects over the past two years. However, these guys are exclucively ant eaters I think. There seems to be no shortage of ants. They can change skin color to some degree and are great at hiding. Kind of wonder what happened to them. Despite their hazardous appearence, all of the spikes except those on the back of the head are quite leathery and not hazardous at all. They are quite good at weilding those head spikes though :)
