1971 Plymouth SuperDuster

This one's for Sam at Scale Avenue. He asked me If I would do it, and I said sure, since it's given me the chance to correct the mistakes I made on my '71 Daytona. The base kit is AMT's 1971 Duster, with the nose and wing from their 1969 Daytona kit. I added the nose to the '71 body, then removed a small section from the front of the hood so it fit correctly. The fender scoops that were on the original Superbirds were too wide for the Duster's fenders, so they were left off. Once the new nose was in place, I did a test fit of the chassis and discovered that the "K" member was completely visible from the front. So I added the lower pan from AMT's 1971 Charger kit. After molding it all together, I extended the lower character line from behind the front wheel onto the new nose. Then I removed the molded in grille so a piece of stainless mesh could be added, filled in the two holes on the bottom side of the nose, and re-cut the panel lines for the nose and lower pan. I filled in the side marker lights, removed the wheel well trim, filled in the holes on the trunk for the original spoiler, and cut two slots into the trunk for the Superbird wing. Paint is House of Kolors Sno White over Dupli-Color Grey primer, which gave me the Silver base. It's topped off with HOK Tangerine with Gloss Black on the hood, fender/door tops, and the wing. When it's all completed, I'll get some pictures from Sam to post here, so keep checking in!

UPDATE 04/21/2011: Sam's packing this baby up and sending it back to me for assembly. Since he gets to work on real killer cars all day (And has a Family to deal with), he doesn't have the time to put it together. So I'll get to finish this baby off in the near future, look for it in my WIP folder soon!
