North Dakota Senator Curtis Olafson gave a very interesting presentation on the proposed National Debt Relief Amendment, of great interest for all citizens who are concerned about our national debt!

What an incredible evening! James Olson kept us on the edge of our seats hearing his stories of his life as a spy. His wife was in the service of our country as well. What an amazing couple.

DOL was honored to have Israeli Ambassador Meir Shlomo as our guest! He spoke about why Israel matters to the United States and gave an informative account of current events in Israel, discussed the importance of our relationship with Israel, and answered many questions. It was a great meeting!

Our own Senator Dan Patrick fills us in on the 82nd Session and so much more. Ya should have been there along with the 100+ DOLs and friends!

The DOLs legislative trip was a big success. We had opportunity to visit with several of our state legislators and staff members. The TX Federation of Repub Women (TFRW) had a fabulous lunch where we had the pleasure of Senator Patrick sitting at our table.

The DOLs showed up in "Big D" for the State Convention. Congratulations to our new RPT Chair Steve Munisteri!

Melissa Salas Blair, spoke on "Latinos, Conservatism and Political Involvement." She shared her passion and vision for engaging the Hispanic and youth community in the political process. Melissa is the editor for "The Americano", a bilingual website celebrating Latio heritage and conservatism, which is part of New Gingrich communications. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and vision with us!

What an event for DOL! 200+ turned out to hear from Texas' finest elected officials: Lt Gov Dewhurst, Atty Gen Abbott, and Congressman Culberson as they sung the praises of DOL and all the great work we have put in over the past 20 years. Judge Napolitano could not have been more engaging as he spoke of the preciousness of our God-given liberty. Way to throw a party DOLs...let's do it again in another 20!

Catherine Englebrecht inspired us to make a difference by protecting the sanctity of the voting process. She shared her experiences in learning of voter fraud and told of her journey that started the King Street Patriots. Don't just sit back and watch the elections unravel, but get involved in "True the Vote" to protect our fundamental right to vote.

Hon. Ted Cruz, former Solicitor General of Texas, gave an inspiring, movtivational and informative speech, giving insight into current events in Washington.

Over 140 enjoyed an informative debate about the future of the Harris County Republican Party. Our moderator County Clerk Beverly Kaufman does an excellent job with our candidates: Ed Hubbard, Don Large, Paul Simpson, Jared Woodfill.

We had a fabulous Christmas Celebration at the Houston Racquet Club! Justice Eva Guzman installed the new Daughters of Liberty officers for the upcoming year!

It was quite the day for the DOLs and our guests. Great weather, great shooting, great turnout, great food, great band, great fun!

Nina Hendee gave us the fascinating and inspiring story of the beginning of Texas. Tina Benkiser, our state party Chair and long time DOL, talked to us about what DOL is all about and why DOL is THE club for Republican women...AND men!

Myrna shared with us her considerable insight with 20 + years behind the scenes of the media as well as some great stories about her friends, Ann Coulter and Bernie Goldberg. Great evening.

Congressman Culberson, State Senator Dan Patrick, State Reps Charlie Howard and Ken Legler were highlighted and gave us the scoop on the upcoming session of the US Congress and the State House. Fabulous!

Lt Gov David Dewhurst and Harris County Judge Emmett lit up our evening. The food was great and our guests were in full Christmas spirit. We even sang around the piano a bit!

It may sound boring but we had fun eating our delicious lunch salad together and electing our TERRIFIC 2009 DOL Board headed by our new leader, Sylvia Spivey!

120+ guests were there to hear David Barton who give a terrific presentation on the history of our struggle with the War on Terror from the very beginnings of our country, in the Barbary War. It was really astounding to hear the history our media neglects to tell us.

October 2nd was a terrific event for DOL. We had 38 candidates speak for the Rally and approx 300 in total attendance! Channel 2 was even there to interview our candidates.

A huge thank you goes to our Campaign Activities Committee headed by Sarah Campbell. A very special thank you must go to Penny Uselton for asking Comm. Radack to sponsor this event for DOL.

You know you shoulda been there!!

The convention was 7000+ strong. Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich were the highlighted speakers. Donna Bahorich and Darlene Gardiner were chosen by DOL to be honored at the Tribute to Women's Banquet.

We had quite the evening listening to Dr Paige describe his experiences as US Secretary of Education and explain his view from his book, War Against Hope, about the significant barrier created by Teacher's Unions (not to be confused with teachers) to the progress of educational reform. Also, Gwen Emmett presented our books for our Literacy Project to Rev. Leslie Smith who shared with us his vision for the great work of FUUSA. We had a packed house and our speakers were enthusiastically received!

We had 19 members take us up on our field trip to see the courts. As the last time, Assoc Judge and DOL member Beverly Malazzo had everything lined up and perfect as we saw our courts in action and met with our judges. Don't miss out next year!

DOL gave a very enthusiastic welcome to our Parade of Candidates. We greatly enjoyed Justice Dale Wainwright as he talked to us about the Supreme Ct of Texas and his political journey. Harris County DA candidate Pat Lykos gave a great introduction of her background and passion for service. One of our best luncheons!

The DOLs were only too happy to volunteer for the fabulous first of its kind Helping a Hero Gala. At the event 12 homes were awarded to injured Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. Really a terrific event and we particularly are proud of DOL member Meredith Iler for chairing the event as well as our very own Darlene Gardiner who headed up our volunteers to work the Gala night. Thanks to all!

We got 8 members and had a ton of fun!

Texas Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones gave us all a rousing talk about how important we are to the future of Republicans and the future of our state. We so appreciated hearing the update from Jessica Colon, National Chair for the Young Republicans. In addition, Congressman Culberson, Reps Bohac, Harless and Woolley also mingled with our members. Great enthusiasm, great meeting!

Dawn Bohac and Cheri Willard did us proud with the gorgeous centerpiece representing DOL's 17 years of promoting conservative Republicanism. It was a great time of celebration for all.

Told you...you should have come! It was awesome. Our speakers Charles Bacarisse and Ed Emmett did an amazing job. Moderator Bill King kept the debate moving. We had 30+candidates and elected officials and 120+ guests. Great evening. See you next time!

You really missed it if you did not celebrate with 130 of your other political friends at the DOL Christmas Party. HISD Bd member and St Rep 149 Candidate Greg Meyers introduces the numerous officials and candidates. St Rep Bohac introduced the 2008 DOL Board members as well as Sen Dan Patrick. Sen Patrick swore all the members in and introduced Comm Jerry Patterson. We enjoyed Glennie Scott on the piano and had a great time. Don't miss next year's!

These are from the book donation that DOL gave to FUUSA. FUUSA takes children that would otherwise go home to an empty house and helps them with homework and fights to keep children in school. The FUUSA is in the heart of the worst drug area in Houston. FUUSA's founder Rev. Leslie Smith,II took an falling down crack house and turned it into hope for the children of Houston.

School bonds, property tax appraisals, and the Trans-TX corridor were all discussed. Very informative.

DOL and President Madeline Collier helped with the kick off of Vision America 10 years ago. Founder Rick Scarborough presented the award to DOL.

This was an energizing evening for all us Republicans with well over 200 members, guests and officials in attendance at the Houston Racquet Club. Don't miss the next DOL event!

Sunday afternoon at Jim and Sherry Smith's house. Republican Party Chair Tina Benkiser started the ball rolling.

We had 2 bus trips, March and April, where we enjoyed learning about the Harris County courts. Very educational for all. Many thanks to all the judges who met with us, especially 2 of our top Harris County officials, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and Harris County District Clerk Charles Bacarisse.
