On December 16th before I left for Christmas break my friend put a box relaxer in my hair. The relaxer had a base coat in it that she applied to my hair. The base coat was very heavy because the relaxer never burned hince why I have the damage. I sat with the relaxer on my hair to long thinking that my hair wasnt broken down. I returned home and within a week I noticed the hair loss on my hair line. The relaxer fried my hair. I am now starting the process of growing out my relaxer due to the damage. Right now I have a full head sew in.

Sorry that happened to you, I suffered the same type of hair loss when I was teenager. My mom got my hair professionaly done, then my stupid sister thought she could help save money by doing it herself with a box perm. I didn't know any better, but this prompted me to learn all I could about hair care. Thank God Halle Berry and Toni Braxton hair cut was HOT then, so I cut it all of and started over with a proffessional, eventually I learned how to take care of it on my own. I haven't had problems since other than got tired of applying that "creamy crack" to my hair. I know this advice is a little too late, but If you plan to relax at home NEVER use box perms, that usually are NO LYE. Your professional stylist uses relaxers with LYE, So, you should have continued using LYE perms. Don't believe the myth that No Lye perms are better for you hair, in fact they are worse.
