- Building a "vintage" kit does not mean that the model year of the car itself is vintage. A "vintage kit" is a model that was manufactured 25+ years ago. Usually old kits like that get bought up by collectors on ebay as example and just sit in a pile to collect dust, never being built. I am trying to promote the "building" of these old kits, since that is why they were made.
1. Your kit or model that you plan to build from start or to restore from a built up, must be at least 25 years old to qualify. I.e.. What year was the kit sold on the shelf?
2. You can build an unbuilt kit or restore and old one that was built up
3. Try to keep at least 50% of it original so others will acknowledge that it is indeed a vintage issue.
